In the vast history of sweets and candy, fudge is a relatively new phenomenon. It’s also a purely-American invention so it's only a little over a hundred years old.

No one knows who made the first batch of fudge. Most resources agree, however, that the first batch was the result of a happy accident! We love happy accidents and we're making them all the time in our kitchens.
